Ever wanted to shoot Satan in the face? Well developer Volition has you covered with Saints Row IV: Gat Out of Hell.
The announcement of the game was made during Volition’s panel at Pax Prime 2014. Gat Out of Hell is a standalone expansion of Saints Row IV, meaning you will not need a copy of Saints Row IV to play the game. It will be released on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. Players have the option of selecting Johnny Gat or Kinzie Kensington on their journey to rescue The President, aka God Emperor of the Universe, and take down the “Prince of Darkness.”
During the panel, Volition also made the announcement they will be bringing Saints Row IV to both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The port will be titled Saints Row IV: Re-elected and will boast slightly enhanced graphics and all DLC for the title. Retail copies of Saints Row IV: Re-elected will include the Gat Out of Hell expansion, while the titles will be offered separately if you decide to purchase digitally.
Both Gat Out of Hell and Saints Row IV: Re-elected are scheduled to release on January 27th in North America and January 30th internationally. For a better look at what the expansion has to offer, view the announcement trailer below.
My Opinion:
The Saints Row franchise has taken a smart strategy in differentiating itself from other sandbox games by going over-the top. This new expansion continues in that tradition with what looks to be more comedic silliness and just pure fun action. Looking at the announcement trailer, you have a character named Johnny Gat interrupting a demonic wedding to shoot the devil in the face. How much more over the top can you get?
