The Nintendo 3DS operating system will be getting a cosmetic upgrade in October, reports Siliconera.
Nintendo of America has revealed that, come October, players will be able to further customize the look and feel of the 3DS Home Menu through the use of themes. These themes change the menu’s background, icons, folders, music, and sound effects.
Themes will be available for purchase from a “Theme Shop”, though there is no word on pricing yet. Themes shown off so far are based on popular Nintendo franchises, including Super Mario Bros., Animal Crossing, and The Legend of Zelda.
My Opinion:
This reminds me a little of the bonus stationery we used to receive for Swapnote (RIP). I love being able to customize the user interface of my electronics, so this is welcome news. If the price is right and the themes look good, I’ll definitely be buying a few of them.

The web has truly changed the way we communicate and made it far easier to stay informed about the lives of our loved ones.
They only want your money and they want as much of it as they can possibly get.
It’s probably some mix of the two, so I have to give him props
for not going too far in either direction.
