In an unexpected, but pleasant combination, PayDay 2 is joining forces with Hotline Miami.  The crossover DLC will be released on Steam on September 30th.  As of now, the new DLC only has a release date for Steam announced.  A spokesperson from Overkill Software, the team behind the PayDay series, did tell IGN that “other platforms are to be announced.” Overkill has stated the DLC will feature a new heist with more details forthcoming.  How did this marriage of the two titles come to be?  Simple, the developers of PayDay 2 are big fans of the violent, frenetic, fun of Hotline Miami from Dennaton Games.

Coupled with the announcement of the new DLC was a trailer demonstrating in bloody fashion what happens when the two worlds intersect.  Watch it below.

My Opinion:  

First off, I have to say I’m not the biggest proponent of DLC.  Especially when it seems like developers just use it as a means to tack on features that should have been included in the original release.  However, this is different and creative.  I have never played any of the PayDay games, but I am a big fan of Hotline Miami.  It is a smart strategy to get fans of one series to sample the other.
