Bayonetta 2 sales slow in Japan

In Japan, the Wii U exclusive Bayonetta 2 isn’t blasting off of game shelves after selling under 40,000 copies after one week.

In comparison with its predecessor, which was sold on both the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360, it sold less than 20 percent of the original Bayonetta in the same time. Bayonetta 2, which was released on September 20th, sold 38,828 copies on the Wii U, while Bayonetta sold a total of 199,567 copies in the first week.

This is interesting given the effort to put the title character in costumes like the Fox McCloud and Link costumes.

My Opinion:

You see, Nintendo? This is what happens when you put a former nonexclusive on an exclusive console! It doesn’t look right and doesn’t sell well. It selling so slow shows that the Japanese audience, which loves the hack-’n’-slash genre as evidenced by Dynasty Warriors and Devil May Cry, doesn’t like exclusive sequels.
