Hours ago, the Pokémon Company aired some gameplay in Japan where a new mega evolution was showcased.
The new mega evolution announced for Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire is the legendary Rayquaza. Mega Rayquaza has a new ability, Delta Stream, which negates all weather effects as well as reduces all super-effective attacks on flying Pokémon to only normal damage. Mega Rayquaza also has a new move, Dragon Ascent, which seems to be a powerful Dragon type move (though the exact type has not been announced). The release also states that this is not a primal evolution like Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre, but a bonafide mega evolution (this will apparently be explained in the storyline).
Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire will be available on November 21st in Japan, North America and Australia and on November 28th in Europe.
Holy guacamole! Mega Rayquaza looks so incredibly awesome. It immediately reminds me of the legendary Japanese dragons (perhaps a source of inspiration). I am interested that they made a point to address that it is not a Primal evolution like the two other legendaries. Hopefully the storyline makes some kind of sense with this and not just, voila here’s a mega stone.
