The Geekend Update: 10/10/14

Weekends are meant strictly for gaming; at least that’s what we think. Here is where you can find out all of our crazy plans for the upcoming weekend!

Courtney Osborn, Founder & Editor in Chief:

I’ll be finishing up Alien: Isolation on Friday and Saturday, then HOPEFULLY moving on to Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor sometime Saturday.  Like I said on this week’s MONG Podcast, I feel like I am dying inside by missing out on playing Mordor while everyone else is! I can’t wait to start it!

Lou Contaldi, Executive Editor:

I’ve been spending a lot of time on Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS. A LOT of time. Now that the review is done, I’m going to take a small break and enjoy my…

Who am I kidding? It’s Smash all weekend with my friends. Catch me online, my Nintendo Network ID is KingLouie.

Myles Farrington, Senior Editor:

Food! Sleep! Destiny! Hopefully a haircut! All this and more awaits on the next episode of “Myles’ Boring as Sin Weekends!”

Shawn Richards, Associate Editor

So, I will be playing Sword  Art Online: Hollow Fragment and watching The Legend of Korra. I might decide to get Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor this weekend. If I do, you can find out via my Twitter @LittleBigHamm

Jesse Webster, Senior Writer:

Both Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Persona 4: Arena Ultimax. I’m getting better at Ultimax and that’s a good thing. Despite finishing the main quest, I’m still doing all the side stuff on Shadow of Mordor.

Aaron Dobbe, Associate Writer:

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS is gonna get a lot of playtime this weekend, for sure. Also continuing to work through the extensive Adventure Mode in Hyrule Warriors. (Seriously, it’s huge!) My NNID is Lavos5; hit me up if you’re interested in a round of Smash!

Andrew Lee, Associate Writer:

Time to butcher Orcs in Shadow of Mordor. Argan the Night Watcher please stay dead this time. I’ve stabbed you, pushed you off a tall ledge and threw you into fire and somehow, you came back three times to haunt me. I love the game’s nemesis system it gets you to really care about your battles and enemies, every fight just feels more personal.

Audrey Lips, Associate Writer:

I will also be playing Super Smash Bros.! I haven’t played it much yet as I was busy crying all over my midterms, so I’ll be excited to murder other characters with Villager. Smashing!

Benjamin Luthi, Associate Writer:

I’ve been on a work trip all week, so my entire weekend will consist of Smash Bros., cartoons, and cold cereal. It’s gonna be awesome!

Darius Purse, Associate Writer:

Just ordered a 64GB memory card for my PS Vita, which should arrive this weekend.  Plan to load it up with all those PS+ games I didn’t have room for on my 32GB card.

Dustin LaRoe, Associate Editor:

I just bought a PlayStation 4 that came with The Last of Us: Remastered. So I’ll obviously spend my weekend playing Destiny on the Xbox One. (I’m such a contrarian.)

Man, how long has Destiny been out? One month? I’m still infatuated with this game. All of my plans this weekend will revolve around the Iron Banner and the never ending hunt for Ascendant materials. Bad Juju hungers for blood.

Harry Loizides, Associate Editor:

The first weekend after Smash coming out…. So yea I’ll be playing Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS. I’ll try to finish Metroid Fusion, but no promises.

Patrick Garrity, Associate Writer:

I just finished Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, so I think I’m going to do some catch up till Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel hits next Tuesday.  Also Sunday is all day football.

Tyler Bartlemus, Associate Writer:

I am sort of unsure on what I will be definitely playing this weekend, as I am preparing for the upcoming release of The Evil Within. As I am hopelessly addicted to Destiny, there is no doubt I will be playing that at some point this weekend. More than likely, I will pick up a copy of Super Smash Bros. for 3DS this weekend like I had originally planned.

What games are you playing this weekend?
