Expect Xbox One December Update to be a Stocking-Stuffer

While many early adopters of current gen consoles have grown used to the hour-long load times for updates, Xbox One owners should expect a smaller patch than usual in December.

This news comes from Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, in an interview on IGN’s Podcast Unlocked. When asked what gamers should expect over the next few months, Spencer replied that December is “a time for us to pause for a little bit and settle just as all the new consoles are coming online.”

His reasoning behind this made sense–with the influx of new consoles around the winter holidays, the last thing they want are new consumers to be plagued with hours upon hours of loading times. Consequently, he noted that Xbox One users shouldn’t expect bigger features (like screenshot capability) until 2015.

My Opinion:

For once, Xbox news is finally relevant to me! With my Xbox One arriving in less than a week, I am glad that the good people at Microsoft are accounting for major load times. Looks like at least one company is learning from the Great Nintendo Christmas Meltdown of 2013.
