Back in 2008, THQ released a brilliant and unique game called de Blob. When THQ went bankrupt in 2012, the series faded away. However, it seems the colorful globule will be returning to the limelight soon.
Nordic Games has announced that they have acquired the intellectual property rights to the de Blob franchise. Spokesperson Reinhard Pollice stated that the company “will evaluate opportunities with the existing games, as well as potential sequels.”
For those unfamiliar, the de Blob games feature a colorful blob who aims to restore color to a dreary and inky world by absorbing various hues and splattering them over buildings, streets, and anything else in his path.
So far, there is no indication of which systems might see a new de Blob game. The original game was a Wii-exclusive, while de Blob 2 made its way to Wii, Nintendo DS, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
As a big fan of the franchise, I was blue when I red that de Blob would die with THQ. Hopefully Nordic Games pinks up where THQ left off. I wish I could play it white now.
