A GameStop press release on November 2nd has confirmed that Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will indeed have a zombie mode, but only for season pass holders. 

News comes from an email from GameStop sent to pre-order who customers for Advanced Warfare. The season pass will consist of four DLC map packs titled Havoc, Ascendance, Supremacy, and Reckoning and will retail for $49.99. They will also be available separately for $14.99 each. Whether the zombie mode is part of a single pack or not is not yet clear.

This comes off the heels of a leaked trailer last week, which teased the return of the popular mode to the Call of Duty franchise.

Players have also uncovered a section of gameplay within Advanced Warfare, which features the undead, but the requirements to reach it aren’t easy. Players have to play the Exo-Survival co-op mode through all four difficulty levels to unlock Riot mode. Then, once you get into Riot mode, you have to get through eleven waves of enemies. Before the twelfth wave, a “DNA Bomb” will go off and zombies will then begin to attack.

My Opinion:

While it is exciting to see that zombies will be returning to the newest Call of Duty, it is tough to accept that if players want to play the mode they’ll have to purchase the core game for $60 and also have to spend an additional $49.99 to access it. While the morality of this may be in question, it seems that the trend of paying more beyond the initial cost of a game for exclusive content won’t be going away anytime soon.
