New details emerged yesterday during the latest Nintendo Direct in regards to Intelligent Systems’ upcoming 3DS strategy game Codename S.T.E.A.M.
Originally announced at E3, Codename S.T.E.A.M. is a turn based strategy game that takes place in a alternate history steampunk version of London. You are part of a group tasked with defeating an alien invasion threatening the world.
Perhaps the most interesting announcement that was made in regards to Codename S.T.E.A.M had to do with its decidedly eclectic cast of characters. Under the command of Abraham Lincoln, your squad consists of Four well known literary characters, each with their own set of unique abilities: Henry Flemming (The Red Badge of Courage), The Cowardly Lion (The Wizard of Oz), Tiger Lilly (Peter Pan), and Tom Sawyer.
Codename S.T.E.A.M. was announced as having a Spring 2015 release window.
My Opinion:
Steampunk? Aliens? Historical and literary characters intermingling? TAKE MY MONEY!!!!!
But seriously, I just became very very excited for this game. The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen ranks among my all time favorite graphic novels, and the concept of Codename S.T.E.A.M. seems very much in line with that world. I also have a great love of turn based strategy games dating back to the original Fallout games. Codename S.T.E.A.M. is a 3DS game to watch for in 2015, and a day one purchase for me.
Adam Leonard is a new Associate Writer with MONG. He really wishes that The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen movie never existed. You can follow him on Twitter.
I doubt there will be much characterization for your cast and frankly that is what I find the biggest joy in the fire emblem games. I want it to do well so they can fund other games, but they really haven’t sold me on anything yet.
