All hail the Card King! Hearthstone pro Firebat was declared the winner of the Hearthstone World Championship at Blizzcon 2014, crushing Chinese pro Tiddler Celestial in a final, best-of-five competition.
The finals for the Hearthstone World Champions had the four champions of the four regions (Americas, Europe, China, and South Korea/Taiwan Asia) battle each other with Murlocs and other minions alike. Ukraine’s Kolento and America’s Strifecro were the crowd favorites to win, as they were previously successful in past ranking and tournaments. However, both were eliminated in the quarter-finals, with Firebat and Tiddle Celestial facing each other in the finals.
In front of a large audience, Firebat defeated Tiddler Celestial 3-0 using his ramp Druid deck, taking home the $100,000 first prize and Tiddler Celestial the $50,000 second prize.
Meanwhile, Hearthstone fans were introduced with a new expansion, Hearthstone: Goblins vs. Gnomes. Goblins vs. Gnomes will be released to Hearthstone players in December.
My Opinion:
Congrats Firebat! I can’t even imagine coming anywhere close to competing in the very first Hearthstone World Championships, it’s truly a great honor for Hearthstone fans. Also, SUPER excited for Hearthstone: Goblins vs. Gnomes expansion next month.
