If you were hoping for a Blood Dragon styled expansion for Far Cry 4 you are out of luck, as one of the game’s developers has dismissed the idea of a sequel.
Whilst speaking to IGN, Alex Hutchinson — creative director at Ubisoft Montreal — indicated that the dev team would like to “surprise” people with another distinctive Far Cry spinoff. However, a follow up to Blood Dragon would not be the right approach.
That’s was what was cool about [Blood Dragon], it was surprising. It was a great use of the Far Cry 3 base, and had an awesome soundtrack. But no, you won’t get another one of those. But hopefully we’ll be able to surprise you with something just as much.
Far Cry 4 launches on November 18th for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
My Opinion:
Blood Dragon remains one of the best DLC expansions that I have ever played. Whilst it’s a shame that we won’t get more of Sergeant Rex “Power” Colt, I am excited about the prospect of what the dev team are working on this time round.
