Bungie has plans to make farming in Destiny a little more lucrative.
Reddit is a place where many hilarious, frustrating, and informative viewpoints are issued regularly, but when one user had a complaint over Destiny’s material farming system, it warranted a response.
According to the post, PolygonMan has no problem with games that require grinding, but the cycle of looking for materials and chests “isn’t just grinding, it’s boring.” And he claims that the process “has caused many of [his] friends to stop playing, and it’s doing the same to [him].”
In reply, Bungie Community Manager, DeeJ, said, “If you come back for more, we’ll let you hunt more than gather,” also adding that “You, and those like you, have been heard.”
Recently, Bungie announced that there are some items they intend to add to Destiny that have been kept secret for some time. These changes include “new economies to equip you with upgrade materials,” new shaders, ways to preview items, and “maybe even a more generous Cryptarch,” although “he’ll still be sort of a bastard.”
My Opinion:
There are a plethora of improvements still in need of attention in Destiny, but it’s nice to see that Bungie is taking notes. As someone who also enjoys playing the game, I have to agree that elements like material farming tend to make the overall, fastpace gameplay feel a little sluggish. Bungie has been paying close attention to its community’s outcries. I think we can expect to see some interesting surprises in the upcoming patches.
