Yakuza 5 Coming To North America

During the PlayStation Experience Keynote yesterday, Sony and Sega announced that they are finally releasing Yakuza 5 on PlayStation 3 in North America.

As part of the Third Party Productions and Building The List program, Sony and PlayStation will be releasing Yakuza 5 on PlayStation 3 in the summer of 2015 in North America. No word yet if there will be English voice acting or if it will just be subbed.

Third Party Production is a way to bring gamers the games they want to see on PlayStation systems. This means that PC games like The Forest and The Banner Saga will come to the PlayStation systems, while overseas games like Yakuza 5 will be localized. The Building The List hashtag is a way to tell Sony what games you would like to see on a PlayStation platform. Yakuza 5 coming to North America was one of the biggest requests they had.

Yakuza 5 originally released on PlayStation 3 in Japan in 2012 and despite the fact that the previous Yakuza games went to North America, Yakuza 5 never did until now. Along with the news of Yakuza 5 coming to North America, Yakuza 4 and Yakuza Dead Souls are out now on the PlayStation Network.

My Opinion:

I never played any of the Yakuza games, but I’ve heard good things about them. With Yakuza 5 coming, I wouldn’t mind playing Yakuza 4. I do hope that the Building The List Program gives me a game that I desperately want, a remake or a sequel to Dino Crisis.
