Monster Hunter and Street Fighter Meet in the Cutest Way Possible

The Capcom Cup brought more excitement than just skilled competition this year. If you’ve never wanted to see Street Fighter (2 specifically) meet Monster Hunter, the recently-announced crossover might change your mind.

The news comes to us by way of Capcom’s community specialist Yuri Araujo’s Capcom blog, where he stepped back from this weekend’s tournament to reveal a bit of cuteness that’s in store for Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate.

Equip your Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate Felyne Palicoes with classic Blanka and Chun-Li fighting attires from Street Fighter II. Okay, the MH team had to take a few liberties with the designs, so you’ll notice subtle cat paw print designs here and there… and Blanka’s weapon is a fish! Yeah, they went a little wild on that one. =P

You read that right: your adorable feline allies from the Monster Hunter series can now sport two of the most familiar outfits in Street Fighter history, Blanka and Chun Li.

However, the crossover train doesn’t stop there. Along with the costumes, players will get their hands on some fancy crossover guild cards as well.

Hardcore fans shouldn’t get too excited though. Apparently the fact that the hunters there share some striking similarities with Guile and Dhalsim are simply to show off the chops of the character creation. Don’t expect to run around throwing Hadouken at Nargacuga or anything.

Unfortunately, it’s not very clear on how to go about obtaining this content, but Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate will be dropping on North American shelves early 2015 for the Nintendo 3DS.

My Opinion:

I know I’ve called foul on a lot of silly (read: stupid) crossovers before, but this is just too cute to boot. Who wouldn’t want to run around with a Felyne rocking the shocking (see what I did there?) outfit of Blanka? No one, that’s who. No one with a soul, anyway. I’m a fan of Monster Hunter and a budding fan of Street Fighter. The only thing I don’t like about this crossover is that I won’t be seeing it hit my PlayStation 4 or PlayStation Vita. Regardless, the cuteness!
