UK Retailer GAME Might Be Selling Captain Toad Treasure Tracker 2 Weeks Early!

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker was originally scheduled for release in the UK on January 2, 2015 but GAME might be selling it on December 19, 2014.

UPDATE: Some people in the UK have already got their copies of Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker. The rumor was true GAME has got an exclusive “soft release” online but we’ll have to wait and see whether they’ll get the game in store on Monday.

ORIGINAL STORY: What brought this to people’s attention was a tweet from Twitter user ValKilmer4Life, who apparently knows an employee at GAME.

Furthermore, many users on NeoGAF as well as a Nintendo Life employee have been sent emails from GAME saying that their pre-order has been dispatched. Moreover, it has been reported that it will be available on December 19th online and the following Monday, December 22nd, in retail.

While GAME still says that it will be coming out on January 2nd on their website:

Interestingly, on Amazon UK and on the Nintendo Official UK Store, it still says it will be released “2nd January 2015”. So perhaps this is actually a GAME “exclusive” early release.

I have contacted GAME through their order inquiries but that will take 24-48 hours to get a reply. I will update this article when I get a response.

My Opinion:

While January 2nd is a terrible release date for a video game, I still don’t quite understand why Nintendo would give GAME an “exclusive” release. If they were going to have an exclusive release why didn’t they do it on their online store? Nevertheless, all of the evidence at this point in time does seem to point in that direction; meaning that Amazon UK and the Nintendo UK Official Store will lose out on a lot of sales.
