After a slew of disappointing emails from Toys R Us on Friday, customers who were advised that all their cancelled Amiibo pre-orders are in fact now reinstated.
Scores of customers are getting this simple email:
We are reaching out today regarding the recent cancellation that has occurred with your online order, # [insert number] . Unfortunately there was a processing error that caused your order to erroneously cancel. However, we want you to know that your order has been reinstated.
We thank you for your patience as we work to remedy this situation.

Though Toys R Us has issued these emails, if you were to check your order now, it still shows that it is cancelled. Time will tell if this will be adjusted as well.

So last entry when I said my brain was burnt….now it’s burnt to ashes. Though I’m cautiously happy that Toys R Us is keeping true to their original orders, I am a bit surprised that it took more than 48 hours to simply issue a response that essentially says ‘JK, my bad. Regardless of this outcome, it solidifies that I will no longer pre-order from this company again.
Recently, Toys R Us sent a flurry of emails to customers who pre-ordered various Amiibos stating that they were cancelled. However, Toys R Us made a confusing announcement nearly 24 hours after these emails were distributed.
Amiibo Inquirer reached out to Toys R Us, where they offered the following response:
We apologize for any inconvenience that may have been caused pertaining to customers’ Amiibo pre-orders. Please know that we are working on an email communication to all customers effected, which will provide instructions on how we plan to fulfill their order. We thank you for your patience as we work to remedy this situation and ensure our customers receive the products ordered.
The response implies that these emails were sent in error and that the pre-orders WILL be honored. Until Toys R Us finishes “working on an email communication”, customers will just have to wait and see.
The brain is officially burnt. The massive frustration of getting several Amiibo pre-orders cancelled, then attempting to pre-order with other stores, then getting this response saying “JK they’re probably not cancelled” leaves me exhausted. I gotta say though, it seems awesome that Toys R Us wants to remedy this debacle, but I’m still going to keep my pre-orders from the Toys R Us cancelled Amiibos just in case…
