Wargaming has announced World of Tanks will be playable on the Xbox One later this year. Currently on the PC and Xbox 360, World of Tanks placed fifth in MMO revenue within its active communities on both platforms, beating out Dota 2, Hearthstone, and Counter-Strike Online in the online gaming earnings list.
The addition of the Xbox One platform will allow console gamers another opportunity to take the battlefield. Xbox 360 players will be able to transfer their accounts and progress when the Xbox One version is launched. Players will be able to communicate between platforms, allowing friends to play with each other even if some have not upgraded systems yet.
World of Tanks has no specific launch date for the Xbox One, but Wargaming has announced that they plan to do so sometime later this year.
My Opinion:
My dad is OBSESSED with this game. Whenever I come home to visit from college he is glued to the desktop or Xbox 360 in our living room playing it. And while he may not be interested in upgrading to the newer Xbox One version when it comes out, he can be reassured that he will still be able to communicate with his teammates and friends when the newer version does launch. I think that by allowing communication between the older and newer versions will be an excellent transition-phase for World of Tanks players and, ultimately, benefit Wargaming.
