Explore Paradise Lost in Survival Horror Game Pamela

The possibility of a utopian society is a familiar concept often explored in science fiction.  Who wouldn’t want to live in a place with no more war, violence, addiction, or hatred.  Yet, in this fantasy setting, something inevitably goes wrong.  Such is the case in a new survival horror game for the PC called Pamela.  Revealed at this years Game Developers Conference, Pamela is the creation of a small independent team, NVYVE Studios.  Taking inspiration from games such as Mass Effect and Mirror’s Edge, Pamela places gamers in a vibrant, colorful, island colony known as Eden.

Unfortunately inhabitants of this island paradise have become afflicted with a sickly disease producing rapid bone growth.  You play as a randomly generated character equipped with a bionic arm and random attachments, customizable over time.  Lucky for you Pamela exists.

The character of Pamela is an AI existing in hologram form linking all the people inside the games world.  Pamela is needed to explore the massive environment of the game, to manage power throughout the city, and for the ultimate goal of staying alive.  Right now the game is in pre-alpha stage with a planned 2016 release for the PC.  Watch the announcement trailer and see what awaits in Eden below.

My Opinion:

What immediately caught my eye about Pamela were the gorgeous visuals.  I really like the art style chosen, as too often survival horror games can be dark and dreary.  The bright, violent colors displayed in the trailer really pop, without sacrificing an ominous tone.  The concept behind the world of Eden sounds interesting and I hope the developers can achieve their ambitions for the title.  Pamela is one game I will continue to keep my eye on.
