Carbonite Thaws on Battlefront Trailer Release

You may want to delay your trip into Tosche Station–the power converters can wait–because EA just announced when the latest Star Wars Battlefront trailer will drop.

On April 17th at 10:30 AM PST the public will get its first substantial look at the next chapter of Battlefront, which has quietly been in production since 2013.  According to EA’s press release, the Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim will host the event, and those in attendance “will have a chance to see gameplay behind closed doors during the show.”

Until now, developer DICE has been relatively quiet about releasing gameplay footage. A stark contrast from their presentation at E3 2014 which included concept art, early in-game cinema, and an exhibition of their seemingly exhaustive pre-production process.  Despite the void of gameplay footage, the company still remains steadfast and as confident as they were last year:

“…Above all, it is our passion for Star Wars that will bring this legacy to life like never before,” was the statement that punctuated their E3 2014 presentation.

EA also assured fans that they are posting the upcoming trailer on their website and on official EA Star Wars channels for anybody not in attendance.

Battlefront is the sixth entry across all platforms and is expected to release holiday 2015, yet no official date has been announced.

My Opinion:

This is a win-win for EA. Not only are they revealing footage that has already been lauded by industry insiders, but they’re releasing it to a demographic that is gathering because of one common interest: Star Wars. Madison Avenue couldn’t drum up a better marketing strategy.
