GungHo Online Entertainment America has told GameSpot that Grandia II will receive an HD remake for release on Windows via Steam.
Using the original Dreamcast version as reference, the HD remake will feature improved visuals, Steam achievements, Steam trading cards, and both controller and keyboard support.
GungHo originally held a survey last month that judged current interest in developer GameArts’ previous games such as the Lunar series and the Grandia series. The response for a rerelease of Grandia II was apparently “overwhelming” and prompted GungHo to move forward with the HD remake.
My Opinion:
I’ve heard great things about Grandia II but have never played it, one of the few Dreamcast classics that have eluded me. I really like JRPGs from this time period and I’m happy to see it be re-released. I’m not familiar with how the game is but I’ll probably still pick it up.
