Bad jokes aside, the North American audience has been lacking color selection and awesome custom designs in terms of PlayStation merchandise for some time. Though the pool of options has been growing recently, it’s about to get even larger with the release of the Magma Red PlayStation 4 controller.

On Wednesday the wonderful news of the plans to release the Magma Red controller were revealed to the public via Sony’s Twitter account.

This summer you can get your hands on this controller for the higher price of $64.99. Now only the second controller to cost such a pretty penny. The first being the urban camo controller.

It’s currently available for pre-order at the official Sony site and Gamestop. If you’re wondering what’s special about this controller besides the color, then you might not be the target audience. You’ve gotta admit, that controller looks SLEEK.

My Opinion:

Damn. You. Sony. As fans of the site know, I’m a sucker for customization. I love having a nice unique version of everything. This fact is only amplified by the fact that I live in a house with three other people and they each have their own PlayStation 4. The second controller I picked up was a blue one, the black and blue dual tones look amazing. I immediately went in search of a red counterpart, seeing as that makes sense, red and blue go together like… other things that go together perfectly. Imagine my surprise when the only red ones available were from Japan and had an insane price tag slapped onto them. I bit the bullet and picked up a white one due to that… guess what controller I’m about to go trade into Gamestop considering this news. I need my red and blue controllers.
