What is it about artificial intelligence turning evil which makes it a popular theme in television, film, and games? Whether it is Skynet in the Terminator franchise or Ultron in the latest Avengers film, things always seem to take a turn for the worse in the creation of AI. Of course that is never the objective, the goal is always to improve the lives of humanity. Scientists want to make the world a safer, faster, more efficient place. Unfortunately, it doesn’t take long for the AI to figure out that humanity itself is the problem and to begin saying things like, “Evolve or die. Make your choice.”
Those words are coming from Aria, the latest and last character released for Season 2 of Killer Instinct. Aria is the AI CEO of UltraTech designed to be the perfect leader. She has the ability to shift between multiple drone bodies, each with varying abilities. Ultra Edition owners of Killer Instinct can download Aria on May 29th, while Combo Breaker Edition owners will have to wait till June 4th. Check her out in action below:
My Opinion:
Judging strictly from the trailer, I think the design of Aria isn’t the most visually appealing. What does stand out is what she is saying. Promising to drag humanity into the future, kicking and screaming, is the type of menace I expect from my evil AI.
