Nintendo’s New Console Will Not Be Android Based

Nintendo has denied claims that their next console will be built with an Android architecture, a company representative has clarified to the Wall Street Journal.

Originally, Japanese news outlet Nikkei published an editorial on the partnership with DeNA and Nintendo. Within the article, it was mentioned that the operating system inside the company’s newest console, codenamed “Nintendo NX’, was to be Android-based. But this proved to be untrue, “There is no truth to the report saying that we are planning to adopt Android for NX,” a  spokesperson from Nintendo told the Wall Street Journal.

Not much is known about the NX, which was announced in March along with Nintendo’s partnership with DeNA. Satoru Iwata, President and CEO, has expressed an interest in “changing your gaming life.” It is likely that innovation is key to the future of Nintendo’s success. This news does not mean the new console will not be open source and more flexible for developers. It means they are not using the Google platform as an architect.

My Opinion:

I’m excited Nintendo is doing their own operating system. They have always had amazing consoles and top-notch games to go with it. I’ve never been worried about what Nintendo will do. I have faith in them because they don’t let me down. Well, besides Wii Music.
