Nintendo 3DS Sells 15 Million Units in the US

Gamers can’t seem to get enough of Nintendo’s series of 3D handhelds. The ‘little portable that could’ has now sold 15 million units in the US alone.

The Nintendo 3DS is the 8th Nintendo system to sell at least 15 million units in the US. The system has enjoyed increased momentum since the launch of the New Nintendo 3DS XL in February.

Additionally, five 3DS titles have reached the two million sales mark in the US. These include Mario Kart 7, Pokemon X, Pokemon Y, Super Mario 3D Land, and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS.

Despite a rocky start in 2011, the 3DS has enjoyed loads of stereoscopic success. We’ll see if Nintendo’s E3 presentation on Tuesday can help continue that trend.

My Opinion:

I’ll be honest: I thought the 3DS had sold this many units already. Either way, it has some of the best games I’ve ever played, so I’m not really surprised.

Benjamin Luthi is an Associate Writer for MONG who probably doesn’t own multiple Nintendo 3DS’s. That’d be silly. Follow him on Facebook or Twitter.
