Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has done battle with Greek Gods in Hercules and squared off against Mother Nature herself in San Andreas. So what new force is the the successful action movie star planning to take on next?
The answer is Rampage. From Deadline comes the news that Johnson is re-teaming with producer Beau Flynn to bring the iconic 80’s arcade game to the big screen. Rampage released in 1986 by Midway, put players in control of gigantic monsters as they laid waste to cities while battling military opposition. Right now plot details haven’t been revealed, but the video game adaptation is currently set for a summer 2016 production start.
My Opinion:
I am a big fan of The Rock going back to his wrestling days. It is great to see him have so much success in films. I remember playing Rampage as a kid and can think of few movie stars today who would be a better choice to wage war with the monsters in the game. While his role hasn’t been revealed yet, what else could The Rock be doing other than laying the Smackdown! on some jabroni creatures destroying his city?
