Street Fighter V Beta Postponed

The Street Fighter V beta this past weekend has been a disaster and as a result, Capcom has announced that it is postponing the remainder of the beta.

In a blog post on Capcom’s community site, the company apologized for the connectivity issues the beta has had. Their servers were overloaded, preventing most users from logging in and causing connection problems for those who did get in. After trying to limit the beta to North American players only, the servers were eventually brought down for maintenance and intended to be reopened soon before this announcement.

However, despite getting some “valuable data”, it was apparent that many players were having severe issues with the beta, resulting in the beta’s postponement. Capcom is promising an in-game incentive for those who participated in the beta, though no details were made available. European and Asian territories, who were cut out of the beta when the issues were first apparent, will receive a separate incentive. Also, this beta will not count towards the three beta tests Capcom has announced for the game.

My Opinion:

It’s unfortunate that the first Street Fighter V beta has gone so poorly. I know several people who were looking forward to playing it. However, this is what a beta is for and Capcom will now know that it needs to boost its online servers dramatically for the game’s release.
