Fallout fans who missed the opportunity to grab the Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Collector’s Edition unfortunately seem to be out of luck.
In a recent statement to Gamespot, Pete Hines, VP of Marketing for Bethesda, stated that they had reached the factory limit for the upcoming collector’s edition. Specifically, Hines remarked, “”We reached a point where we’d go back to the factories and they were like, ‘guys, this is it, sorry.” That is not to say they are only making a few copies of the hotly anticipated collectible, in fact Hines revealed that the volume of Pip-Boy Collector’s editions they are producing “eclipses” previous Bethesda collector’s editions, and that they have made “a shitload” of them.
The Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Collector’s Edition comes with special power armor collectible metal packaging for the game case, a vault-tec perk poster, a Pip-Boy pocket guide, and of course a replica Pip-Boy complete with case and stand. The Pip-Boy is designed to house compatible smartphones, and can be used with the upcoming Pip-Boy companion app for the ultimate Fallout experience. See the Pip-Boy Below in all of it’s glory.
Fallout 4 will be released November 10th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
My Opinion:
I’m not usually one to be lured in by collector’s editions, but in this case, Bethesda had me at Pip-Boy. I was extremely lucky to grab a pre-order in the short window they were available, and cannot wait to pretend to be a vault dweller come November. It is a shame that more people won’t get to do the same. But well…. they do still get Fallout 4….. so there is that!
