The reboot of the Tomb Raider film franchise has a star in Alicia Vikander and now has a release date.
Tomb Raider is now scheduled to return to the silver screen on March 16, 2018. Co-produced by MGM and Warner Bros., the film stars Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft with Roar Uthaug directing. The movie will take inspiration from the 2013 Tomb Raider videogame and feature a young and unproven Lara Croft on her first adventure.
My Opinion:
2018 is still awhile away, so it wouldn’t surprise me if the March release date changes. That being said, it is good to see the movie continue to progress, unlike other video game adaptations which can’t see to get fully rolling like the Metal Gear Solid film. I’m also curious to see the state of the Tomb Raider videogame franchise by the time 2018 rolls around. With the positive reception of the last two games in the series, I would hope that another game would be coming out in a couple of years as well.
