Nintendo has announced a new design for the New 3DS XL. The design? A starry, galaxy-themed cover. The new design will arrive in stores later this week.

The news was announced via Twitter, where Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime is seen in a short clip showing off the new galaxy-wallpaper inspired design.

The new design serves no change in function and only serves as a fresh coat of new paint. The unit is identical to all other New 3DS XL models. Nintendo announced that they began shipping out the new unit to North American stores today, and that they will be available for purchase at some point later this week. No word was given about the new design releasing in other regions.

The handheld will cost $199.99.
