The rebooted Tomb Raider film adaptation continues to round out its cast. Following on the heels of Walter Goggins joining the project, comes the casting announcement of Daniel Wu from Variety.
Daniel Wu will play Lu Ren, “a ship captain who partners with Croft on a quest to find her father.” The Tomb Raider film is set to release March 16, 2018 and stars Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft with Roar Uthaug directing.
My Opinion:
I know Daniel Wu primarily from Into the Badlands on AMC. He is a well trained martial artist, so perhaps his character Lu Ren can aid Lara in the action. The string of videogame films continues to happen, despite the lack of critical and commercial success with Assassin’s Creed being the latest film to bomb at the box office. Perhaps Tomb Raider will be the one to break the curse.
