Avalanche’s long rumored next installment in the Just Cause franchise may be seeing its debut at E3 this up-coming year. Earlier this week, the domain name Justcause3game.com was registered by Square Enix.
Christofer Sundberg, founder of the game studio Avalanche (The studio who created Just Cause), states plainly on his linkedin profile that he is working on a next-gen game for a “new installment in a well-known game series.” And since Avalanche’s only known game series is Just Cause, it wouldn’t be too outlandish to assume this mysterious title they’re working on for Square Enix could very well be Just Cause 3.
He goes further on to say that the game is slated for a June 2015 release. It’s not uncommon for studios to announce games a year in advance, and with E3 being the largest venue year round, it would be the most opportune time to do so.
As a longtime lover of the Just Cause games, I couldn’t be more excited. All the signs point to a reveal at E3 this upcoming year, which should be interesting. The latest installment, Just Cause 2, received a Metacritic score of 84, which is highly respectable. Hopefully Just Cause 3 further builds on the success of the previous two games.
