NintendoLife reports that Ed Boon, creator of the Mortal Kombat series, has stated that there is a zero percent chance that the SNES Mortal Kombat games will ever be available on Wii U Virtual Console.
RT @RickyV831 @noobde I know this is a long shot but are there any plans 2 release SNES versions of MK1-3 on WiiU Virtual Console? EB: 0.0%

Boon did not state why the games will never hit Wii U. There is speculation that there is a licensing issue, but there is no konfirmation of this.
Back in 2011, Boon did an interview with GameTrailers wherein he expressed his interest in making a Mortal Kombat game for Wii U. He did not specify whether this would be a new game or ports of old games.
My Opinion:
Krappy luck. Many who were growing up in the midst of the Mortal Kombat glory days (such as myself) would love to have a chance to download these games for Wii U. Fortunately, there are other ways to obtain them (such as Steam).

That’s too bad. It would have been nice if Boon had said why… if you find out let us know 🙂
