Rockstar’s Making its Debut on Current Gen Consoles This Year

News has come to us today from Take-Two that Rockstar is getting something ready to release to the masses. If that bit isn’t exciting enough, the part to really get giddy about is that they’re planning to drop it this fiscal year.

According to the CEO of Take-Two, Strauss Zelnick, Rockstar is creating something and it sounds like it’s gonna be good; “Rockstar Games is hard at work on its upcoming lineup, and we’re excited about what they have in store for the new generation of systems this fiscal year.”

No news has been dropped on what the game (or games) will be, but if Rockstar’s track record can speak for it then we should all be on pins and needles. With the fiscal year ending on March 31st, 2015 we’re looking at an early 2015 release at the latest.

Considering that Rockstar normally operates on an extended development cycle it will certainly be interesting to see what they can come up with in this shortened window of time. Although there is a possibility that they could have been working on their mysterious titles during the development of Grand Theft Auto V.

My Opinion:

This is good news. I may not have played every single one of Rockstar’s titles, but the ones I have played have been pretty darn good. I’m actually rather excited to see if they’ll venture away from the Grand Theft Auto franchise. I’m not bashing the series but it couldn’t hurt for them to try something new. I predict that we might get new information on what’s going on behind their doors at E3 considering the release window we’re looking at. Hopefully Rockstar’s first title, or maybe titles, out of the gate will be strong starts for the developers on these new systems.

  1. There’s way too much evidence for it. The endless amounts of leaks and Rockstar Leeds (best known for porting games to other platforms) last year looking for a Graphics Programmer to make a game for PC platform.
