New Freedom Wars Story Trailer Released

Sony Computer Entertainment America and Europe have released a new English story trailer for the PS Vita exclusive title Freedom Wars. Freedom Wars is collaboratively developed by Japanese developers Shift (God Eater) and Dimps (Dragonball Z Budokai series).

In a post on the Playstation blog, Junichi Yoshizawa (SCE Japan Studio) provided new details about the game in celebration of Freedom War’s successful release in Japan last week.

Freedom Wars is a title I created to realize a dream of mine. My vision was to develop a PS Vita game that took advantage of the handheld system’s unique features, enabling gamers to come together via ad-hoc and Wi-Fi to overcome terrifying enemies.” Yoshizawa said

“PlayStation has a storied legacy of creating innovative experiences and our collective goal was to create a Vita game that brought gamers together in a socially connected, location-based, co-op experience.”

The game supports up to eight-player online co-op and takes place in a dystopian future where humanity has been forced to live in heavily overpopulated cities called Panopticons. In an attempt to curb overpopulation, thousands of people (including the game’s protagonist) are unjustly arrested and forced to battle monsters known as Abductors as punishment. Defeating these creatures frees the civilians they’ve captured and shortens your million-year prison sentence as a reward.

My Opinion:

Freedom Wars had an interesting story that intrigued me since the game’s initial reveal, but with the release of this new trailer my excitement for the game just hit a new level.
