Sins of the Family
Warning: Contains spoilers for the entire Danganronpa franchise.
Ever since last year’s release of Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, and its follow up Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair (both remakes of previous PSP games), the Danganronpa franchise has gained a surprisingly large cult following in the US. Danganronpa’s mix of bizarre mind bending story, instantly memorable characters, unique gameplay, and style for days has been a breath of fresh air in today’s game scene, and one of the best cases for owning a PS Vita. In Danganronpa Another Story: Ultra Despair Girls developer Spike Chunsoft decided to go a completely different route, gone is high school life, gone is the whodunnit murder mysteries, gone is the courtroom drama, all of it replaced by a new story, and a completely different type of game. The great question was, could they pull it off?

The PlayStation Vita turns three years old this week. Like a toddler, it’s still perfecting its coordination, and learning how to tell its own stories, but it has potential. Even though this little guy is so young, people have been singing its swansong since the Vita’s initial release. Yet, like an indestructible Freedom Wars Abductor, its health is draining slower than anticipated. The big question is what’s the Vita outlook for 2015 and beyond? As 2014 began to wind down, so did the new releases, but that didn’t stop game sales! Here are the games that many PlayStation owners got for the holidays. Continue reading PlayStation Best-Sellers for December 2014
A hyped and scheduled Freedom Wars announcement came to the title’s Osaka, Japan “Sinner Festival” late Saturday, January 10th. Fans of the highly praised Vita title, may now wonder “where’s all the buzz?”
2014 was certainly a wild year for gaming.
The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One both set record sales for a console’s first year on the market, reassuring gamers and “analysts” everywhere that console gaming is here to stay. Microsoft decided to release a Kinect-less Xbox One bundle after saying it would never happen. The PlayStation 4 failed to release any major blockbuster first party games during the holiday season, while the Xbox One released a hit new IP in Sunset Overdrive.
We saw the rise and fall of mobile games like Flappy Bird. Games like Titanfall, Watch Dogs, and Destiny were all finally released only to be ripped apart by gamers with too much hype. While less hyped games like Wolfenstein: The New Order, Valiant Hearts: The Great War, and The Evil Within managed to blow everyone away. We were flooded with “HD remakes” of games – some that we have wanted for a long time, and some that were just released a year ago on last generation consoles.
All of that combined to make this years Best of 2014 Awards a really fun one.
Did you miss the awards that were announced earlier this week?
And here are all of Part Three’s winners! Continue reading MONG’s Best of 2014 Award Winners – Part Three
