Destiny will be launching soon and the beta even sooner, Bungie has announced a companion app to launch alongside the game. The app will launch on iOS, Android, and web app. The companion app will have many practical uses. Nice job Bungie.
WIth Destiny being an RPG like game, this app will help you keep track of your character’s statistics, missions, bounties and progression. The app will also offer you the option to change weapons and armor in real time, the changes reflect instantly in the game itself. You will be able to check your inventory to see what you have on hand, inquire what the vendors are selling in the Tower and read through Destiny’s lore through its Grimoire.
While you venture through Destiny, you will acquire cards that expand information about characters, locations, and events in this rich universe. The Grimoire is your life line to Destiny’s lore.
The Destiny app will be available on iOS, Android, and web as soon as the beta hits. It will work with all versions of the game. Bungie has stated that only the iPhone version will be ready for Beta and when the game launches September 9, 2014 that the iPad version will be ready. There will be no support for Windows phones.
My Opinion:
This is great. In today’s world there should be no reason for a functional app not to go alongside a video game. I mean we even have app’s that indicate the nearest available bathroom, so I hope this is a no brainer. I appreciate that Bungie is keeping it simple with this app. You use it to check up on your toon and fiddle around with a few simple options, nothing too deep. I’m looking forward to spending some time with Destiny. The game that is…
