Ubisoft reports that 8 million copies of Watch Dogs have been shipped, surpassing their expected target of 6.3 million units.
However, according to Game Informer, 6.3 million units have sold through to the consumers.
Along with this information Ubisoft also released some in-game statistics. According to the publisher, over 1.7 billion civilians have been hacked which averages about 280 hacks per player.
Watch Dogs sold through 4 million in its first week making it the best-selling new IP across the video game industry.

My Opinion:
Even though Ubisoft has not actually sold through 8 million copies of Watch Dogs, I think it is safe to say that they will hit that number soon. Though many people would argue that Watch Dogs was overhyped and it doesn’t live it up to expectations it is still the closest thing we have to a next-gen open world experience. As more PlayStation 4s and Xbox Ones sell, more copies of Watch Dogs will follow.
