Incoming Drop for Titanfall DLC and New In-Game Black Market

Revealed as part of a recent livestream, Respawn has announced that the Frontier’s Edge DLC for Titanfall will be released on July 31st for Xbox One and PC. The DLC will be available as part of the season pass or can be purchased separately for $10.

As part of a blog post on their official site, Respawn has also revealed the addition of an in-game update which will add an in-game Black Market the same day as the DLC. The Black Market will introduce an in-game type of currency for the buying of various items within the storefront. In anticipation of possible worrying by gamers, the development team left this statement at the bottom of the blog post,

“With the introduction of an in-game currency, some may worry that the next step is that we will let players spend real-world money to get an edge in the game. We have stated several times that Titanfall will not have micro-transactions. Fear not, for we plan to keep that promise – NO MICROTRANSACTIONS! The only way to get Credits is by playing the game!

– David Shaver, Designer”

The Black Market has been described as a place where players can go to sell their unwanted stack of Burn Cards and buy new ones. Titan insignias are also available through the Black Market. Credits can be earned in various ways like winning or completing matches, completing daily challenges, selling cards, and at level 50 a percentage of earned XP will also be turned into credits.

Part of the update will also include various improvements to both PC and Xbox One versions. Improvements for the PC version will include multi-GPU support and frame rate optimization. The Xbox One version should also see improvements to frame rate/screen tears as well.

My Opinion:

As a fan of Titanfall, this news is very welcome. In my various times playing Titanfall, I have consistently found my collection filled with useless burn cards that would clash with how I want to play. Now with the Black Market, I will finally be able to get rid of those cards and get some that will better suit my type of playstyle.
