Square Enix has announced that they will be offering a Limited Edition incentive for pre-ordering Kingdom Hearts 2.5 ReMIX. Those who pre-order the Standard Edition of KH2.5 early will be upgraded to the Limited Edition, which includes a pin featuring the game’s characters Sora and Mickey Mouse.
The announcement answers fans’ and players’ questions on whether the second Kingdom Hearts remastering will offer an incentive for pre-ordering early, much like Kingdom Hearts 1.5 ReMIX did by including an artbook with the Limited Edition.
Kingdom Hearts 2.5 ReMIX was announced last October shortly after the release of Kingdom Hearts 1.5 ReMIX. The game restarted the saga with Kingdom Hearts Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, and also included cutscenes from Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. Similarly, 2.5 ReMIX will include HD Final Mix versions of Kingdom Hearts 2 and Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, as well as a collection of cutscenes from Kingdom Hearts Re:coded.
Kingdom Hearts 2.5 ReMIX is available for pre-order and set to release December 2nd, 2014 on PlayStation 3.
My Opinion:
I’ve never really been one for collectable items from games, so a pin in exchange for pre-ordering right away isn’t much of an incentive. Don’t get me wrong, I am a HUGE fan of the Kingdom Hearts series and the artbook from Kingdom Hearts 1.5 ReMIX was actually pretty awesome! But, I feel that a pin alone is pretty insignificant in comparison. There are totally going to be fans that will love to get their hands on the Limited Edition pin, and Square Enix is catering to them which I think is great (better than nothing, right?). I just wish they could have come up with a better equivalent to the artbook than, well, a Disney pin. Either way, I still pre-ordered the game already and am super stoked to play it this winter.
