Alienation, a new PlayStation IP, was announced earlier today at Sony’s Gamescom Press Conference.
The game is being developed by (friends of the website) Housemarque, creators of Resogun, Dead Nation, and Super Stardust HD. Alienation seems to carry on the arcade-esque legacy of Housemarque, which will feature the studios’ famous particle effects, explosions, score chasing, leaderboards, and online co-op.
In addition, Housemarque will be throwing in some new ideas to sweeten the pot. For instance, Alienation will contain an overarching story, loot mechanics, four-player co-op, stat tracking, and a complex upgrade system. To get a general feel of the game’s environment and play style, check out the teaser below:
While very little details have been announced about the game, it will be a PlayStation 4 exclusive. More details will be announced soon, according to Housemarque.
My Opinion:
While this game looks awfully similar to Dead Nation, I said the same thing about Super Stardust HD and Resogun. When it comes down to it, Housemarque knows how to make awesome games — I can’t wait to see how this game turns out and how they manage to make it different from their other titles.
