New Indie Games Announced For PlayStation Platforms

Sony unveiled several games headlining at PAX Prime this weekend. These indie games are either from studios that never made a PlayStation game before, or coming to the PlayStation platform for the first time. At PAX Prime they will show off:

Salt and Sanctuary – PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita

Salt and Sanctuary is the new game from Ska Games. They are the developers behind The Dishwasher series and Charlie Murder for Xbox 360. Salt and Sanctuary will be the first game Ska Games has made for the PlayStation systems. Salt and Sanctuary will be released sometime in 2015.

Alone With You – PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita

The first Alone With You trailer doesn’t offer anything concrete, but it seems that you play as an astronaut whose spaceship is damaged beyond repair and the only way to get out is to fix the escapepod. Fortunately, you’ve got A.I.s to help you out. It’s being touted as a Psychological Romance Adventure. The game is expected to be released in 2015.

Desert Ashes – PlayStation Vita, PlayStation TV

Desert Ashes is a free-to-play multiplayer game for the PlayStation Vita and the new PlayStation TV. Because of its turn based nature, there will be a timer in the game so players won’t have to wait too long as the opponent makes their next move. Desert Ashes will be released this Fall, possibly as a launch game for PlayStation TV.

Nidhogg – PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita

Nidhogg was announced for PlayStation 4, and it’s now coming to PlayStation Vita. The game is a fast pace action game where two players try to reach the goal line. It has been on PC for sometime, and now it’s coming to PlayStation Platforms. There will even be cross-platform multiplayer matches. Nidhogg is expecting to arrive later this year.

Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer – PlayStation Vita

Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer is a card building game where you’ll start off with ten cards, and as you play multiplayer or singleplayer, your cards will build up. The developers have said that there are five expansion packs ready for players to gain more cards. Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer is also an actual card game. No word yet on when this Playdek game will be released.

Dust: An Elysian Tail – PlayStation 4

Dust: An Elysian Tail originally came out for Xbox 360 in 2012, but now it is coming now coming to PlayStation 4. It’s a side scrolling action game with RPG elements mixed in. Humble Hearts, the developers, have said that Dust: An Elysian Tail will be in 1080p, 60fps, and it is coming soon.

Metal Slug 3 – PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita

Metal Slug 3 is a side-scrolling run and gun action game that was originally released for the Neo-Geo in 2000. It’s another re-release for the game as it also came to Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation 2, iOS, PC, and Virtual Console. SNK promise that it will be released in the Winter.

I’m sure there will be more on these titles when PAX Prime starts today and all through the weekend.

My Opinion:

Quite a few games I wouldn’t mind playing. I remember when Dust: An Elysian Tail came out and wanting to play it, now it seems I get to. Nidhogg is another game I would want to play, but I don’t think it will have the same impact playing online. Salt and Sanctuary is the one I’m keeping my eye on. Whenever Cthulhu is a character in a game, I must know more about it.
