What upcoming game(s) has/have recently surprised you enough to now be on your radar?
Courtney Osborn, Founder & Editor in Chief:
Well, probably Destiny. When Destiny was originally announced I really didn’t care about it at all. However, after playing it during the alpha and beta tests this summer, it shot up in importance for this fall. I never planned to buy it until I got to play it.
Lou Contaldi, Executive Editor:
None, at the moment. I’m pretty stuck in my ways about the Fall. If anything, it was the multiplayer mode in Dragon Age: Inquisition, but I was always planning on picking that up anyway. There are still a few games I am on the border about (I’m looking at you, Far Cry 4) — however I need some more info before I jump into those boats.
Myles Farrington, Senior Editor:
I don’t really have a radar, but if I did, it would be completely taken up by Destiny at the moment. Destiny would be the whole of my radar… and there would be a minor sliver of Dragon Age: Inquisition.
Dustin LaRoe, Associate Editor:
Nothing really, but Disgaea 5 and Hot Shots Golf are really getting me excited for the PlayStation 4 now.
Harry Loizides, Associate Editor:
I think Bayonetta 2 is starting to look more and more interesting. With the Nintendo Direct looming for the end of the week, more intriuging news can be coming in the close future.
Shawn Richards, Associate Editor:
I have to say Sunset Overdrive. I love Insomniac Games, but after Fuse and the fact that they were making an exclusive to Xbox One, this didn’t give me much hope. However, Sunset Overdrive did something great. It impressed me, and I await the release so I can actually get an Xbox One. I might actually play multiplayer with people. The humor, the gameplay, the art style and the idea itself was just so perfectly done that I am willing to invest money into an extra current generation console that is factually less powerful than the one I already have.
Jesse Webster, Senior Writer:
Nothing right now, but that could change. If I can get more information on Dragon Age: Inquisition it could enter my radar, but considering what else is coming out around that time frame, it would have to wait.
Aaron Dobbe, Associate Writer:
I can’t really say anything had been super surprising to me as of late. Most of the games I’m looking forward to (e.g. Bayonetta 2, Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus, and Super Smash Bros.) are sequels to games I already know and love.
Audrey Lips, Associate Writer:
I wouldn’t say I was “surprised” about the new Silent Hill game, but it’s certainly on my radar. After playing PT and shitting my pants I can’t wait to see what the new Silent Hill game will bring to the table.
Chad Waller, Associate Writer:
I guess Destiny. You’d think that a Bungie made FPS with a cool science fiction story would have gripped me a bit earlier given my love for Halo, but for some reason, I just never got excited about this one. Now though, I kind of am. There’s been a lot of great press and people claiming it’s a mix of World of Warcraft and Borderlands have sure helped me take interest.
Darius Purse, Associate Writer:
I would say Middle Earth: Shadow of Modor. Some of the developer diaries I have seen have made the game look really appealing. I really like the voice cast I have heard so far.
Darwin Leuba, Associate Writer:
I would have to say Hyrule Warriors. I am not a fan of the Dynasty Warrior series, but I am big Legend of Zelda fan. Even though this game will probably play nothing like a traditional Legend of Zelda game, the sheer amount of fan service has piqued my interest. Hopefully Hyrule Warriors, will make the wait for the Legend of Zelda Wii U somewhat bearable.
Patrick Garrity, Associate Writer:
Shadow of Mordor!!!! After playing this at PAX I can not wait till September 30th. Trust me this one will be good.
Ryan Latuso, Associate Writer:
Hyrule Warriors has shocked me with the amount of content shown. I wasn’t interested at first but now I’m keeping a close eye on it.
Wasteland 2 also looks better every time I see it
Shaun Fales, Associate Writer:
I would have to say Dragon Age. I still have too much stuff to play this fall so I probably won’t buy it day one but it definitely has my attention.
Tyler Bartlemus, Associate Writer:
The upcoming aerial armada action game, Dreadnought, would definitely now be on my radar. I have no idea how I missed this game at E3! However with the recent coverage and gameplay demo that came from PAX 2014, it has now certainly caught my eye. If you did not know this about me already, let me state for the record that I am in love with the science fiction genre. I absolutely cannot get enough of the sci-fi atmosphere in games, so the development of all these new spaceship simulations is very exciting news for me. Cannot wait to hear more news about the game in the future!
