Dean Dodrill, designer and programmer for Humble Hearts, announced on PlayStation blog, that Dust: An Elysian Tail, (previously an Xbox Live Arcade exclusive) will be coming to PlayStation 4.
Dodrill, who was typing as Dust’s ‘co-star’, Fidget, notified PlayStation fans by stating: “Dust: An Elysian Tail is coming to PlayStation 4 REALLY REALLY SOON! I KNOW! it’s crazy.”
The 2D, side-scrolling platformer features traditional gameplay components including “crazy-fast swordplay and screen-clearing MAGIC” along with other attributes such as power-ups, special abilities, main quests, side quests and exploration elements.
In the blog ‘Fidget’ pushes Dust: An Elysian Tail’s unique selling point that the game is hand-drawn like, “An old animated movie from the 80’ and 90’s.” Dodrill boasts that it will run at a solid resolution of 1080p and an appealing 60 frames per second.
Dodrill did not elaborate on a set price for the digital download or when PlayStation fans will be expecting to get their hands on the game, other than the previously mentioned timeframe of ‘soon’.
My Opinion:
I’ve never heard of or played Dust: An Elysian Tail before and I’m not sure I will with all the new games coming out within the next few months. However, I do think this is indicative of PlayStation once again showing their thirst for bringing smaller titles in their effort to be the best gaming console.
