PS Vita Update 3.30 Going Live: Theme Support Coming Soon

Sony has announced that PlayStation Vita firmware update 3.30 is going live tonight, Wednesday, October 1st, with theme support coming tomorrow.

Firmware update 3.30 offers users the ability to customize several aspects of their handheld device, including the start and home screens, application icons, and background music. Initially, non-game related themes will be available for use, with game-related themes coming soon.

In addition to aesthetic alterations, update 3.30 will allow you to view trophy rarity on the Vita’s trophy display much like the PlayStation 4.

My Opinion:

Firmware update 3.30 brings changes Vita owners have been clamoring for, namely, theme support. This update, along with PlayStation 4’s own upcoming firmware update (2.0) seem to be working to streamline the two consoles. Such a strategy may be especially important for the Vita if the system becomes more of a component of the PS4 than a console itself. Now if only they would do something about those bubbles…
