Nintendo has released a trailer demonstrating how Amiibo will be used with Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.Fair warning though, this video is incredibly, hilariously, awkward. Despite this, the video is actually informative. Take a look.
I’m almost sorry for showing you that. It is interesting that Nintendo is deciding to use this method to tell us how their newest product works. This also opens up the possibility for more Amiibo demonstration videos for other titles such as Hyrule Warriors (which just got Amiibo support).
Nintendo’s first wave of Amiibo figures launches alongside Super Smash Bros. for Wii U on November 21st in North America and November 28th in Europe. The second wave of characters will be available in December. They are currently available for pre-order on retail sites including Toys”R”Us, which is offering one free Amiibo with the purchase of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.
My Opinion:
I never cared what Amiibo did because I simply thought they looked awesome. I already had my eyes on the Link, Fox, and Marth figures, so I plan on buying them. It is nice to know what they actually do though, and I think their function in the game will not go to waste.
