Bungie’s recent Destiny update 1.0.2.3 fixed a few “rare” issues where players experienced getting randomly kicked to orbit or the login screen, but most notably made changes to the Vault of Glass raid’s final boss.
The patch notes read, “Fixed an issue where Atheon was not choosing random targets for teleport through the timestream during the final encounter […]” In the past, the boss would select the three (out of six) players farthest from it to teleport to either Mars or Venus, allowing players to strategize roles. Now, each member of a Fireteam must be prepared to take on any role as Atheon decides.
Until this update, Atheon could also be defeated after pushing it from the arena, ending the battle without much combat. The patch notes also address this. “Fixed an exploit where Atheon could be forced off his platform.”
But with updates, soon follow bugs. Many PlayStation 4 users have been experiencing difficulty signing into Destiny servers. Bungie says the “issues preventing PlayStation 4 players from signing into Destiny are resolving.”
PlayStation 4’s highly anticipated update 2.0 was released around the same time as Bungie’s fixes. It has yet to be determined that Destiny’s connectivity issues are related.
My Opinion:
It’s encouraging to see Bungie’s continued support of Destiny and the community’s feedback. This update makes an already challenging quest even more daunting, but as proven in the past, Guardians will certainly prevail.
