Duals of the Planeswalker 2015 is Out on Xbox One

Xbox One users, start building up your mana reserves: Magic 2015: Duals of the Planeswalkers has just been released on your console.

This magical news comes straight from Xbox Wire during a recent interview with principal game designer, Nik Davidson. Besides announcing the immediate release of the infamous card game, Davidson hit on a few key topics regarding the game:

  • Magic 2015 will add some newer cards to the mix, specifically the “Garruk’s Revenge” expansion. Expect to find new mythic lands, tri-lands, and other favorites not in Magic 2014.
  • There doesn’t seem to be Xbox One/Xbox 360 multiplayer crossover. Multiplayer will be limited to those within the platform you are playing on.
  • “Sealed play,” the mode which gave a chance to sample deck-building, will not be making an appearance in this newest iteration.

While the Xbox One version of this game was only recently released, the game has been available on Steam since July 16, 2014. Besides Xbox One, it has been available on Xbox 360, the App Store, and other online platforms.

My Opinion:

While I have always (and continue to be) a fan of Magic the Gathering, I’ve never been able to muster the energy to try one of these games. Maybe with my brand new Xbox One and my renewed interest in digital card games (a la Hearthstone), that time has come.
