Halo: The Master Chief Collection is one of the most anticipated games for this holiday season, and the hype about Halo 5: Guardians is still running high since its announcement. So it’s no surprise that the Internet freaked out over a recently-leaked clip of Halo 5’s multiplayer footage.
The footage was grainy and short, but appeared to show an in-game character running and aiming down sights. Both the running and aim down sight were not used in past Halo games.

Amid the discussions about the upcoming game, fans were left questioning the mechanics of the newest Halo game. Particularly, whether players could use a descope option for their guns, as the leaked clip showed a player aiming down the sights of their gun. This mechanic is used in many first-person shooter games (such as Call of Duty), but had not previously been utilized in the Halo series.
343 Industries executive producer Josh Holmes took to Twitter to respond to fans’ concerns stemming from the leaked footage:

Holmes further confirmed that there will be a descope option in Halo 5 for nostalgic fans of the game.
Microsoft and 343 Industries is offering everyone who buys a copy of Halo: The Master Chief Collection access to Halo 5 multiplayer beta on December 29th that will run through January 18th next year on Xbox One. Halo: The Master Chief Collection was released today, November 11th, and Halo 5: Guardians is scheduled for release sometime next year, also all on Xbox One.
My Opinion:
I never got into Halo too much, sadly. However, with the release of Halo: The Master Chief Collection today I’m going to give it another go and check it out! Like many of the critics of the aiming down sights seen in the leaked footage, I’m not a big fan of this. It’s why I don’t like the Call of Duty series very much (well, one of the reasons). But, now that Josh Holmes confirmed that there is the option not to use it the game only seems more appealing. I can’t wait to play it (when I have the money to get the game).
