TowerFall: Dark World Expansion To Release Early 2015

TowerFall: Ascension is a neat little couch co-op downloadable title that dropped just over half a year ago. Its simplistic controls and visuals belie the true depth and difficulty that can be found in the game. Fans of the title will be happy to know that an expansion is set to drop early 2015 and it’s entitled TowerFall: Dark World.

Matt Thorson (TowerFall’s creator) took to PlayStation Blog to announce the good news yesterday. Now, you might be wondering what makes the next pack of content for this little game worthy of being called an expansion. No one’s able to put the explanation in better words than Thorson himself.

We want to call this an expansion rather than DLC, because it expands the game in every direction rather than providing small incremental additions. Approaching it this way allows us to tie all the new stuff together in a very cohesive manner. For you this means more playable archers, levels, modes, power-ups, variants, trials, and more.

Between the procedurally generated final level of the new ghost ship and the new arrow types (which will bring in even more strategy to your battles), fans of TowerFall will be hard-pressed to not find something to enjoy when the world gets a little darker.

Presumably Dark World will release for the platforms that TowerFall: Ascension has already made a home on, those being PlayStation 4 and PC.

My Opinion:
This is great if you ask me. TowerFall is a fun game. I spent hours with a good friend of mine clearing out the campaign and shooting arrows at one another. The game seems to be critically underrated and I assume that’s only due to the lack of online play. Online functionality wouldn’t be the worst addition, but Thorson has a vision for the game and this expansion is going to make up for it for true fans. Get hype!
